SL-28 SL-28 was genetically selected from a drought-resistant variety identified in Tanzania. Scott Laboratories in Kenya put this varietal into production in the 1930's. Ripe cherries ripen red and produce larger than average beans. Flavor notes of fruits like blackcurrant and others are noticeable. Unfortunately, the plant is prone to developing leaf rust, which doesn't affect the beverage but does affect the lifespan and cherry yield.
